Cambodia Emerges as New Capital of Combat Sports
PHNOM PENH, Cambodia — Kombat Global Corporation President Rick W. Shin has concluded an intensive 17-day strategic visit to Phnom Penh, Cambodia, marking what company officials describe as a major turning point in Kombat Global’s international expansion and long-term development plans for Southeast Asia.

Kombat Global currently has a presence in 124 countries through its expanding network of licensed clubs, certified officials, athletes, promoters, and international combat sports activities.

During the visit, Kombat leadership held a series of high-level meetings with Major General Khov Chhay, President of the Kun Khmer Federation. The discussions further strengthened the strategic alliance established earlier this year through the official Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed in Sihanoukville, Cambodia.

Major General Chhay reaffirmed his full support for Kombat Global’s long-term vision and expansion initiatives in Cambodia, including future world championship events, international partnerships, athlete development programs, and large-scale operational projects.

A major highlight of the visit was President Shin’s official inspection of the stadium selected to host the upcoming Kombat Grand Prix & World Title Championships in Phnom Penh. The venue has recently undergone extensive renovations and infrastructure upgrades, positioning it as a world-class professional stadium capable of hosting premier international combat sports productions and global live broadcasts.

Vice President Ronnie Liew joined the Cambodia visit one week later and participated in strategic planning meetings focused on operational development, international partnerships, venue expansion, and future investment opportunities in Cambodia.

In parallel, President Shin conducted multiple site evaluations for Kombat Global’s future operational office in Phnom Penh, reinforcing Cambodia’s growing importance within Kombat Global’s long-term international structure.

Company officials indicated that Cambodia is being positioned as a major future hub for international event coordination, athlete development, combat sports education, and global business operations.

Kombat Global also continues to recognize and promote the historical and cultural significance of Cambodian martial arts, acknowledging Kun Khmer as the original foundation and widely known as the father of Muay Thai. Through international competitions, educational initiatives, and worldwide promotion, Kombat aims to elevate Cambodia’s martial arts heritage onto the global stage like never before.

“This visit represents much more than event planning,” said Kombat Global President Rick W. Shin. “We see enormous long-term potential in Cambodia. The support, leadership, infrastructure, and opportunities here are creating the foundation for something very special. Big things are coming to Cambodia.”

Kombat’s international expansion continues on June 5, 2026, in São Paulo, Brazil, where Kombat Challenge Series #21 will officially introduce Kombat Kun Khmer to the world for the first time in history.

As part of the initiative, the Kun Khmer Federation will send two Cambodian fighters and one official instructor to Brazil, where the first official Kun Khmer seminar ever conducted in South America will also take place.

Momentum continues on June 27, 2026, as Phnom Penh hosts the Kombat Grand Prix & World Title Championships featuring one World Title Belt bout, four Kombat Kun Khmer bouts, and three Kombat Taekwondo bouts.

Kombat Global has also confirmed plans to return to Phnom Penh on November 27, 2026, for another major Kombat Grand Prix & World Title Belt event, further establishing Cambodia as one of the emerging capitals of international combat sports.

Industry observers have noted the growing momentum surrounding Cambodia’s combat sports scene, fueled by increasing international interest, upgraded venues, strong institutional support, and the global rise of Kun Khmer.

With major projects currently under development, Kombat Global officials confirmed that several significant announcements related to Cambodia are expected in the coming months and could dramatically accelerate the country’s position within the international martial arts and combat sports industry.

Cambodia is rapidly emerging as one of the most exciting new frontiers for global combat sports — and Kombat Global intends to be at the center of that movement.
