KKF and Kombat Celebrate Soft Grand Opening of Kun Khmer High Performance Center in Phnom Penh

PHNOM PENH, Cambodia — October 3, 2026 — The Kun Khmer Federation (KKF) and Kombat Cambodia celebrated the soft grand opening of the KKF High Performance Center and Kombat Academy at AEON Mall Mean Chey on Saturday, October 3, at 11:00 a.m. Established through Kombat’s investment and with the support of AEON Mall Mean Chey, the facility marks a significant step in the organizations’ cooperation to develop athletes, expand access to martial arts training, and strengthen the international presence of Kun Khmer.

KKF President Khov Chhay and Kombat President Rick W. Shin attended the celebration alongside distinguished guests, officials, fighters, coaches, and gym owners. The gathering brought Cambodia’s martial arts community together to celebrate the facility and the partnership behind its development.

Guests enjoyed a Bokator demonstration honoring Cambodia’s traditional martial arts heritage, followed by two friendly Kun Khmer bouts showcasing the skill, discipline, and spirit of the participating fighters.

The center was established under a Memorandum of Understanding signed in May 2026, reflecting KKF and Kombat’s shared commitment to athlete development, community participation, and international cooperation. KKF and Kombat also acknowledged AEON Mall Mean Chey’s support in bringing the initiative to the community.

Kombat made 100% of the investment required to establish and open the facility and assumes financial responsibility for its ongoing operations. All profits generated by the facility will be reinvested into the KKF High Performance Center’s operations and programs supporting its members. This investment demonstrates Kombat’s commitment to supporting KKF and the long-term development of Kun Khmer.

Spanning 500 square meters, the fully equipped, air-conditioned facility provides a modern environment for martial arts instruction and athlete preparation. KKF and Kombat describe the center as the first of its kind in Cambodia, designed to provide an international-standard training environment for professional fighters, developing athletes, and recreational participants.

The facility also features the Kombat Pro Shop, offering a full range of fight gear, apparel, and martial arts equipment. The shop provides fighters, coaches, members, and visitors with convenient access to products for training and competition.

The center serves KKF and Kombat members and welcomes the general public for martial arts classes. Operating 365 days a year, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., it offers year-round access for participants across different experience levels. The facility is located on the first floor, next to Miniso, at AEON Mall Mean Chey, Phnom Penh.

Beyond its role in Cambodia, the partnership will introduce Kun Khmer to Kombat’s network of licensed clubs worldwide. The initiative aims to expand international participation, strengthen connections among coaches and athletes, and promote greater recognition of Cambodia’s combat sport while respecting its cultural heritage.

The official grand opening ceremony is scheduled for November 29, 2026, at AEON Mall Mean Chey in Phnom Penh. Additional details will be announced ahead of the event.
