Korea to Host 2026 World Championships in Gimcheon

GIMCHEON, South Korea — The global Taekwondo community will gather for the 2026 World Championships, taking place July 10–12, 2026, at the Gimcheon Sports Complex.

Sanctioned by the Professional Taekwondo Federation (PTF) and organized by the World Sport Committee (WSC) and PTF Korea, the event is officially sponsored by Gimcheon Municipal City.

The Professional Taekwondo Federation (PTF) serves as a global governing body committed to uniting all Taekwondo styles and advancing both amateur and professional competition worldwide.

“This is a historic moment for global Taekwondo. For the first time, the World Championships welcomes all ages, all belt levels, and all styles under one unified platform,” said Rick W. Shin, President of PTF and Kombat Taekwondo.

With more than 2,000 competitors expected, organizers today confirmed participation from 36 countries already registered, highlighting the event’s growing global reach and significance.

This marks the first time a World Championships brings together all major Taekwondo styles under one unified global platform.

PTF General Assembly, Kombat Taekwondo Meeting, and the Kombat Taekwondo Referee Seminar & Refresher Course will be held on July 10, 2026.

Participants may extend their experience through a four-day Taekwondo Camp & Cultural Tour, offering elite training, cultural immersion, and guided experiences across Korea.
